MFPF Vysoké Tatry is an international thematic competition of film and photography, which has been held annually since 1986.

The mission of the competition
The mission of the event is to present photographs and films made under the surface of fresh or salt water, or films dealing with the aquatic environment. The purpose is to motivate filmmakers and give them a venue to present their works. At the same time, the festival highlights ecological issues related to the aquatic environment. The 2025 edition of the festival will contribute to maintaining the continuity of specifically oriented works in Slovakia and will allow comparison with similarly oriented works from abroad.
The course of the competition
The competition is a single round and is open to any filmmaker or photographer – both citizens of the Slovak Republic and artists from abroad. The competition categories are divided according to the thematic focus of the entries. Each competitor can enter his/her works in individual categories.
Awards for film and photographic works
The competition images are evaluated by an expert jury appointed by the MFPF organizer. At the awarding ceremony the MFPF organiser will award prizes as selected by the expert jury:
GRAND PRIX MFPF – The prize will be awarded in the film category
TOP PHOTOGRAPHER MFPF – The prize will be awarded in the author’s portfolio category
BEST SLOVAK FILM – Award of the Slovak Diving Association
BEST SLOVAK PHOTOGRAPHY – Award of the Slovak Diving Association
There will be 2nd and 3rd Place prizes awarded in all categories
Special prizes and honorable mentions.
No trophies will be awarded to absent authors. They can collect them personally from the organiser until the end of 2025. Diplomas and honorable mentions will be sent to absent authors by e-mail after the festival. The results will be published by the organiser on the MFPF website.
